S.R.A. - PLANS & PROGRAMS

PLANS

  1. Food Security. To maintain the level of sugar production in order to maintain balanced relation between supply and requirement for the domestic demand, U. S. export and some strategic reserve, we shall:

Continue to implement sugarcane high yielding variety development, propagation program and effective dispersal system in partnership with the private sector such as PHILSURIN through the MDDC. Continue the conduct of R & D and Extension for more technology generation. Further pursue farm mechanization via Sugar ACEF & MDDC.

    1. Increased Income of Farmers. Intensify campaign for appropriate use of cost cutting measure such as efficient ratooning; fertilization management; use of clean and disease free HYV; innovative cultural practices; utilization of sugar & sugar by-products into high value products; strict monitoring and coordination of HYV nurseries and tractor pool program.
    2. Sugar Regulation & Policy Enforcement. Pursue our function relative to sugar classification to balance supply/demand situation through the sugar quedanning system; monitoring of sugar production, withdrawal, sugar prices including sugar imports and exports. Likewise, sugar quality assurance will be part of our thrust to maintain compliance to accepted standards.
    3. People Empowerment. SRA will continue to implement the policy strengthening the MDDC in addressing developmental concerns of their respective mill districts and working with the private sector in the implementation of its development agenda.
    4. Employment Generation. As we become productive, more jobs will be opened in areas like cane culturing and harvesting. The full implementation of the projects under Sugar-Agricultural Competitiveness Enhancement Fund (Sugar-ACEF) will be a major contribution along this line.
    5. Good Governance. Implementation of a clear SRA policy for transparency, integrity, competency in all its action, more importantly in regulatory and in institutional policy agenda that will provide the right environment to encourage sugar producers to modernize and become globally competitive. Networking with other government groups and working closely with the private stakeholders.
